Tea Chemistry Set by Art Lebedev

Adorned with a traditional Gzhel pattern, this ceramic chemistry set has been repurposed as a Russian tea set. The best kind of science is the type you can drink.

I WANT THIS!

I need this!

snarkinthewater:

Adam Savage dipping his fingers into a pot of molten lead. Immediately prior to submerging his fingers in the lead, he wet them with water, which will form a thin protective layer of water vapor on contact with the lead, which was heated to 850 degrees Fahrenheit. This is known as the Leidenfrost effect.

i was never able to convince medley to let me dip my hand in liquid nitrogen :/

tumblrbot asked: ROBOTS OR DINOSAURS?

Dinosaurs because they probably tasted delicious and it would have been awesome to hunt them. i can’t eat a robot because it probably wouldn’t taste good or it’d be really bad for me.

Today i sold my soul to the devil and by devil i mean the government.

I agreed to get a teaching credential in chemistry and receive 4k per year until i get my degree. I realized that with this additional income i will not have to work to pay off my tuition at CSUSB because of the Pell Grant, and Cal Grant. I decided that gas prices are too damn high so i’m going to start riding my bike to school. its about 15 miles away and the average speed is around 10 miles per hour. it will only take me an hour and a half to get to school. If i go to school on tuesdays and thursdays only i will only have to travel 60 miles per week which in the total quarter would be 600 miles. this will save me sooo much money on gas. Plus i wil have some kick ass legs ;) I don’t plan on spending any money on books because my school library reserves copies of text books which i can just photo copy the problems and look up study guides and reviews on line. I will save lots of money on parking due to the fact that i won’t be driving :D

You (yellow), need to pass the red ball to your friend (blue), as you both sit on a merry-go-round.  I posted a similar animation of this problem before- and this one shows quite an extreme of the solution.  You can only throw the ball very slowly, so you throw the ball to where your friend will be when it gets to them.  From above, the ball travels in a straight line, but in the world of the spinning merry-go-round that you occupy- the ball seems to be warped on a curve by some invisible forces.  These invisible forces are called the Coriolis and Centrifugal effects.
